Just curious if anyone knows offhand of an Estimated>China Doll pairing. I would love to hear the segue.

Never heard of an Esto pairing but I always loved China Doll.
I basically love all the Jerry ballads that could have the "mean", piercing Garcia solos.
This Playin>China doll> High time combo w/ Brent's harpsichord in CD has always been a fave of mine:

I'm partial to the Providence Civic Center and all the shows played there though. A great sounding smallish venue that was fun to see the band in even though the cops were ALWAYS dicks.

I don't think there are any.

How about Slip> China Doll?

Or Rider> China Doll

I don't think it ever happened. But on 11/2/85 in Richmond, VA the boys did Estimated > Uncle John's > China Doll

Outstanding China. Almost made the entire arena burst into tears from its sheer beauty.

I'd cry too if all the bathrooms were full.

Normally C.D. was a bathroom break tune for me as well, but that night was something special.

Really?! I never heard anyone say they skipped China Doll. I thought everyone loved that song.

I guess "normally" might have been a bit strong a word, but in the later years as Jerr became more and more...uh, let's see...what the word?...fat and unwell?...the tune didn't grab me as it once had and my bladder took precedence more often than not.

Let me also add, however, that there was an occasion or two sprinkled through the last couple of tours I saw that the tune did keep me in my seat.
